Hillside Residence set to change the landscape of de Paul Center campus

Construction of the Sisters of Providence’s new 36-unit elder affordable housing project, called Hillside Residence, got underway on August 20. Western Builders from Granby, Mass., the general contractor, has subcontracted with many local firms with a goal of completing the construction within approximately 12 months.

Hillside Residence is located at 100 Hillside Circle on the de Paul Center campus, 2112 Riverdale Street in West Springfield. A ceremonial groundbreaking for the $9.25 million dollar project took place at the site on May 18.

“After striving for this moment for so many years, we are delighted to see bulldozers moving the earth for this innovative elder housing initiative,” said SP President Sister Kathleen Popko. “It’s a dream coming true, through collaboration with and funding from the State and Federal governments, private foundations, city government and the Sisters of Providence.”
